Inspiration

A classic twist in Sydney inner west, a traditional federation home features ‘Chelsea’ tessellated pattern, an amazing transformation added to this residential property.

This amazing residential property located in Sydney’s inner west has applied a tessellated pattern ‘Chelsea’ to the veranda, stairs and footpath to their home. The pattern design selected shows an intricate star feature in this design, set within a grid like formation for a more dynamic effect. The design pattern has a double strip Norwood border. The colours selected show a colour palette of black, white, brown, grey and red which works well with the red bricks of the home. The encaustic design embellished in the pattern has been applied to the set risers to show a continued design. The bluestone step tread works well with the encaustic design a simple yet glamours effect.

The tessellated tiles on a footpath can significantly enhance the aesthetic appeal of the walkway, adding a unique touch of design and colour. This application continues right through into the veranada, a superb way of styling your home. The beneficial component of applying tessellated tiles to your home is the hard-wearing and able to withstand foot traffic and weather conditions.

While tessellation has historical roots, they are also used in modern interior design. The come in a wide range of colours, allowing for customisation to suit different design aesthetics and preferences.

Design Aesthetics

Tessellated design aesthetics encompass a wide range of visual elements and principles that contribute to the beauty, harmony, and appeal of tessellated patterns. Colour and contrast plays a big part in the make up of tessellated design, through thoughtful selection of colours it can enhance the visual impact of tessellated patterns. During the colour selection stage you can implement an optical illusion with the play of shapes and colour such as the perception of movement and depth, these effects add intrigue and engage the viewer. When designing for your tessellated pattern the process involves choosing the filler tile, the border pattern and the tessellated pattern design. Tessellated design aesthetics encompass a rich tapestry of visual elements and influences, from mathematical precision to cultural symbolism and artistic expression. Whether inspired by nature, tradition, or contemporary innovation, tessellated patterns captivate the imagination and enrich the sensory experience in diverse contexts. By exploring the interplay of symmetry, colour, texture and context, designers can create tessellated designs that resonate with meaning, beauty and creativity.

A design element that consistently pops out is the encaustic decorative tiles embedded in this tessellated pattern. Shown here is the encaustic collection available in an array of different designs and colours to suit your project. Seen here is an encaustic design called ‘Calais’  added to the step risers and through the body of the tessellated pattern. The other encaustic design is a multicoloured design that is placed in the pattern grid of the tessellated design, this compliments perfectly with the red bricks of the home. This residential project defines the beauty of ‘Chelsea’ tessellated pattern and brings this dwelling to life with the beauty of tessellation.
