At Tessellated Tile Factory, our encaustic-style designs are printed onto fully vitrified, full-body porcelain tiles – made from a refined blend of clays, feldspar and minerals, then fired at high temperatures for exceptional strength. The colour runs all the way through the body of the tile, not just the surface.
This advanced vitrification process results in a dense, low-porosity material that is highly resistant to moisture absorption, chipping, and general wear. In most cases, it does not require sealing, ensuring long-term stability of colour, clarity, and surface integrity. The result is a hard-wearing porcelain solution that maintains its finish and performance over decades.
It offers a durable and versatile alternative to traditional cement and standard glazed options while retaining the rich, decorative detail of classic encaustic tiles.
